Browns

Lovely sarnies.

Review

Say ”Browns“ to most people in York, and they'll think 'department store'. Say ”Browns“ to any student in York and you can guarantee they're thinking 'sandwiches'. Such is the draw of this curious little shop, that should you visit any time between 10am-3pm, you are likely to get trampled by a herd of hungry students, all desperate for their fix of ”probably the best sandwiches in the world“ (they said it, not us, but we'd be tempted to argue that they're not far wrong.) It's not just students; local residents and workers love it too. Walking into this traditional village shop is almost like stepping into an old farmhouse kitchen with tiled floor and wooden shelves piled high. Further in is the cabinet of sandwiches-£2.50 each, and some fillings that you think really shouldn't be allowed, yet somehow it always tastes so right.
