6 Hangover Cures
Avoidance
The best way to stop the impending feeling of doom on awaking after a few scoops is to avoid it in the first place. Don't worry, this doesn't mean not touching the falling down water at all, but some easy preparation can go a long way. Get a full stomach before you start boozing. Also, lining your stomach with milk or yoghurt and general B and C vitamins all gently brace your poor body for some serious punishment.Alternate/Swerve Alternating hard and soft drinks and swerving some more hangover-loving liquids are more sly but effective tactics. Sparkling drinks like Champers and rum and coke are a no-no, as is cognac, brandy, whisky and red wine. Thankfully, there is some booze out there that's kind to you: gin and vodka. That doesn't mean you can drink a skinfull and not expect your head to feel like WW1, though.
Hydration
Water and rehydration solutions like Alka Seltzer are good ways to provide your body with what it requires to get on the road to recovery. Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it encourages the body to lose more water than it takes on. So give it back by drinking copious amounts of the tasteless stuff. Also, essential salts are lost in the art of drinking booze – so replace those with solutions such as Alka SeltzerVitamins These two letters are kind of important to your health, and – you've guessed it – going out on the lash depletes them. After all your B has been used up, give yourself something to hang onto with foods high in the vitamin. Yeast extract on toast is a good one, as is Berocca. Also, vitamin C acts as a natural antioxidant, so ensure you get 1g of the stuff 3 times a day after your sessions to mop up that cloud of fuzziness. Oranges or supplements will do the job.
Caffeine
Although itself a diuretic and not the healthiest thing in the world, caffeine clears the head, makes a post-drinker more alert, and reduces your headache. Guarana does this job also as it too is a caffeine like substance. Refer to point 3, as water is essential when using this diuretic tactic.Prairie oysters Prairie what now? These hangover cures are probably better identified as raw eggs with Worcestershire sauce and seasoning. This odd concoction has valuable protein and antioxidant containing ingredients. See it off...or forever be confined to your bed.
