Walk this way
Wouldn’t it be cool to be the lead character in a movie? Wouldn’t it be great to have ace soundtrack music playing as you went about life? Well, if you want to be your own leading lady/fella, all you need do is plan a day, and compile a suitable soundtrack for your MP3 player. Here’s how we’d soundtrack our day as a star. Rise and shine
Get out of bed and reach for headphones. Lame-os can always go for some audio cheddar like Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. Frankly though, we’d go for Waking Up by Elastica and its ‘waking up and getting up has never been easy’ chorus. After all, if you’d enjoyed your night before properly, you wouldn’t be in such a good mood anyway.

Walk like a man
Once out of the house, take a stroll around the block to clear the head. Walking soundtracks are always cool in films. Just look at Reservoir Dogs. The track for this is Aerosmith and Run DMC’s Walk This Way. Stomp your feet down to each guitar chord and you’ll soon have a pretty cool stroll going on.

Get involved in a car chase
Balls to the typical drive to work. It’s time to reclaim the roads. After all, do you think Hollywood stars worry about traffic? Whack on Prince’s Little Red Corvette and get ready to roll. Crank up the volume, and tail someone ahead of you. Those without a licence could try this with a push-bike.

We like coffee, we like tea
It’s hot beverage time. Head to a café with a friend for the kind of deep chat that’d make for some really interesting dialogue in an arthouse film (wear a black roll-neck), and stick on The Puppini Sisters’ take on Java Jive . Don’t worry if your friend gets irate at you not being able to hear them. A bit of anger always looks good on screen.

Have a shoot out
What kind of film would this be without there being some trading of shots involved? A crap one, that’s what kind. Head on down to your local paintball range, whack on NWA’s Straight Outta Compton and prepare to take out some hostiles. All together now, ‘AK 47 is the tool...’

Over the counter culture
Alright, so it ain’t going to make the most interesting chapter in your film (unless it’s a chick flick, in which case it’s perfect material for the high-speed, pre-date outfit-buying montage) but sometimes you just need some retail therapy. Dressed for Success by Roxette should help you have a good trip round the shops.

He drinks a whiskey drink...
You’ve been pretty good thus far (we’ll ignore the random fight), so you may as well reward yourself with a drink or seven. And if there’s one artist who knows a thing or two about drinking, it’s Shane McGowan. Pop on anything off Rum, Sodomy and The Lash , and get cracking on the booze. Just make sure your mouth doesn’t end up like old Shane’s...

Dance the night away
You’re a free-minded individual, which is why it’s like, totally un cool to conform to the musical tastes of losers like DJs. Once inside the club, grab the MP3 player, break free from their musical fascism, and stick on Disco Down by Shed 7. Yes, it’s a turd of a song (like all their stuff), but that ‘Let’s burn this disco down’ refrain will make you such a rebel.

All you need is love
Being a film star you’ll have picked up a sleeping companion. You’ll still need to woo them once back at yours though. No human can resist the heart-warming sentiment of Color Me Badd’s I Wanna Sex You Up. Works best if a couple of mates with slicked-back hair burst in to join you for some synchronised soft-shoe shuffling.

I’m so tired...
It’s been a hard day. You need to kip, and what’s more, you need a cinematic ending for the credits. You need Asleep by The Smiths. As Morrissey croons I’m tired and I want to go to bed’, you’ll drift off nicely. Just don’t share your ‘phones with your new bed pal. The song’s suicidal theme tends to alarm new acquaintances. Erm, apparently.
