Without doubt the biggest restaurant in York and worth a visit just to see inside the stunning Georgian Assembly Rooms. If you're into Doric columns – I work with people into way worse... – this is the place for you –and for fact fans, they're not actually marble, but painted by some clever bloke from the local college. If you have an entourage of J–Lo–esque proportions this is about the only place that'll accommodate you, but however big/small your social circle it's best to book come le weekend. Superb pizzas, good – sometimes great – pasta and the same reliable standard you'll get in any Ask in the country –just with way more Doric columns.
