The Three Legged Mare
As the York Brewery's second pub, this place stocks all the tasty brewery beverages as well as some fine European tipples. Unusually for a York pub, it has a bright and breezy feel, reminiscent of a Bavarian bierhaus. Most remarkable about 'The Wonky Donkey' though it that it derives its nickname from the three–legged gallows in its beer garden, which was once used to execute criminals in bulk. There aren't many other pubs where you can sit outside, sip a fruit beer and contemplate mass penal genocide in the middle ages. Well there aren't, are there?
