Bengal Brasserie, York

Never ones to under–use a good name, there are two Bengal Brasserie's in York. Both are good value, quality Indians. Style–wise, however, they've wandered off in their own little directions. In the cosy city centre venue you can enjoy the flock wallpaper and scrunched–together tables that accompany a thousand chicken dopiazas up and down the country. The other BB seems to have taken lead of the second word in its name. Stylish décor and a selection of choice music from the 60s/70s –the nearest you'll get to a sitar here is a George Harrison tune.

User Reviews for Bengal Brasserie

Visited on moderately busy Saturday night with girlfriend in November 2007. We both enjoyed the meal up to a point. However, the service deteriorated rapidly once bill had been paid (and tip had been left). We had only be in there for 1.5 hours and were finishing off our bottle of wine when 3 of the waiters, quite aggressively, forced us to move tables to accommodate another booking of 8. We were made to feel quite uncomfortable by the waiters while we finished off our wine, which spoilt the experience. Had much better experience in Bombay Spice just down the road. If you have to go don't pay up until you've finished everything!
