This has got to be one of York's coolest hangouts. Right up near Micklegate bar it's not on the tourist map and particularly attracts york's arty intelligentsia. The bookshop has a particularly impressive children's section as well as a good discount variety of art, cookery and gardening books. However the cafe is perhaps the real gem serving a huge range of delicious and slightly unsual food there often seems to be a queue to get a table. Plenty of light comes in from roof windowsmaking it an ideal location for the wide variety of exhibitions which change monthly. A venue always worth diverting to.
