Infamous for its positioning on the banks of the River Ouse, it packs in the punters partly because of its tendency to flood when the river overflows. Now such a regular occurrence, they've taken the sensible precaution of housing everything susceptible to water damage above six feet. And the staff can clear the pub in under an hour. The landlord Andy &staff are excellent as our party of visitors to York found out when we visited the pub Sunday 22nd April and were made to feel so welcome that we returned on the Monday, &I celebrated my birthday there on the Tuesday. I will hopefully be returning soon with my husband, and he can meet Andy. Also the lager &bitter is the cheapest beer in the city. xxx Coffin Dodgers
