Former butcher's shop that relives its meat market days when weekend revellers cruise the room before heading off to Ziggy's. Generally though, it's home to a quiet and friendly crowd from the nearby offices. As with many York real ale pubs it encourages hardened hedonists, and to prove it they run open mic folk music nights –the melodic equivalent of asking the village idiot to drive the church bus. Still they do nice food, and I can forgive anywhere for that.
