Kites was a quality venue before its refurb, but since then it's got really good. The refit meant that they've stuck in a load of sofas, given it a lick of paint, but more importantly opened up the ground floor and also the patio. This means that you can nearly always be guaranteed a seat no matter how busy it is and there's the opportunity for alfresco drinking in the city centre. And unlike Oscars you won't start to get that hollow sick feeling in the pit of your stomach as skin is scorched from your cheeks by their over zealous garden heaters. The food in the bar is very good, slightly more affordable than the restaurant and served until quite late. They're applying for a late licence, but that'll probably be vetoed on the basis that it's good. Come and drink here anyway, it looks nice, there's a cracking atmosphere and some of the bar staff are very pretty indeed.
